Psalm 85:4-7

  1. Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.
  2. Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?
  3. Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?
  4. Shew us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation.

Ephesians 3:4-10

  1. Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:
  2. Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;
  3. Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
  4. But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
  5. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
  6. And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
  7. That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

Psalm 130

A Song of degrees.
  1. Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Lord.
  2. Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.
  3. If thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?
  4. But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.
  5. I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.
  6. My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.
  7. Let Israel hope in the Lord: for with the Lord there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.
  8. And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

Proverbs 11:1-9

  1. A false balance is abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is his delight.
  2. When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.
  3. The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.
  4. Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.
  5. The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.
  6. The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.
  7. When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.
  8. The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.
  9. An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.

James 4

  1. From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
  2. Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
  3. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
  4. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
  5. Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
  6. But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
  7. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
  8. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
  9. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
  10. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
  11. Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
  12. There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
  13. Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
  14. Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
  15. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
  16. But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
  17. Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

I Peter 5:8-11

  1. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
  2. Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
  3. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
  4. To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
